A large (chicken sized) flightless rail endemic to New Zealand. Intruduction of rats and weasels have greatly threated New Zealands flightless natives ( such as this, the Kiwi and the Kakapo) but the Weka seems to be doing somewhat better than the rest due to a higher reproductive rate. this is a wild bird that came out on the lawn to forage for whatever insects it could find.

Interesting bird. I would prefer the image taken from a lower angle. Thanks for sharing.

Cool bird. A lower angle would definitely improve the intimacy of this one is it was possible. The fill looks good.

Very cool looking bird :) I would prefer less fill and a bit lower angle.
