This is the only bird I have for this motif. Saw it at Anhinga Trail a week ago. This is a vertical crop of a horizontal image. I had to clone out some twigs....there's a lot of them out there..not easy to get a clean background unless you're Alfred. My highlights are bit hot....but its the motif that counts...

This is a beautiful species and you've done a great job with it.

I don't want to put you to more PS work but the two diagonal twigs through his tail are very distracting.

I liked how it came out after the croping. The colos are beautiful.

Sweet. Agree with you on the highlights but this bird really pops. The colors might be a little oversaturated but not by much. 8)

Very nice, in backlit situations like this, underexposing at least 1 to 1 2/3 stops and then filling in with flash can reduce the contrast. Still an excellent shot.

Nicely captured - I like the warm feel to it. You handled the lighting well.

What E. J. said. :) The highlights on the bird look fine on my monitor but the Left twig is burnt a bit in relation to the bird; I mean, because that area is perceived as lighter than the lightest part of the bird, my eye is drawn there to the twig.

Well you're one ahead of me on this week's motif... I have none. And if you're only going to have one example this is a great one to have... Beautiful bird beautifully presented Mike. :)

Nicely done, Mike. Would like a drop more room on the right and above.
