An old image of mine that has been sitting on my hard drive for years.
I do not think I have posted it before.

But, I do so today because the lone tree that has survived for so many years no longer stands guard over this field.

Sadly.... a victim of a late Fall windstorm that passed through the area.

Please view against a darker b/g by clicking on the image.

What a lovely tree - and sad tale - a real pity.

Thanks for sharing!

A beautiful image of historical value.

Here too, on September 29th a tornado passed... it razed an entire park of centenary plants and lots of oak trees to the ground,
it was my favorite place on the edge of my city...

A sad tale, but a striking and imposing memorial image.

Lovely undulating ground and moody sky, John. The poor old tree didn't really have anything to break the force of a relentless gale in this landscape.

Great composition, great light and the dramatic clouds make it even better.

Lovely to see this old tree before it's demise- a beautifully dramatic scene.
