Anyone Else Seen a Western Grebe Stand Up Straight on Land

This Grebe was resting on land at the spot and then stood up. I've never seen this before. I'll tell you why it might have done this

Hope I didn't hype the story too much. I thought this was very unusual behavior in addition to the fact that it was resting on land for a long time. I never did see it go into the water. Next day in the same location a Western Grebe was floating, dead. I assume it was the same Grebe, but can't prove it. But the day after that, there was another Western Grebe dead on the shore at low tide. I reported the two dead Western Grebes within one day of each other, hoping that they might have known an agency that might want to autopsy them, but the person who answered the phone didn't seem too interested. End of story
