While slipping and sliding at a difficult macro site, managed to take some closeups of this common Damselfly species known as the Common Bluetail, Ischnura senagalensis. This is the male.

If the terrain were more conducive (for lack of a better word), I'd probably have used a tripod. Such was not the case here. So I used Flash Photography.

90D, 180Canon macro, 1/200, f16, iso500, ETTL -2/3, handholding approach, cropped.

Might try other methods in future to zoom in on these fascinating insects.

Hope the view is an interesting one. Comments welcomed.

Excellent image, Darren, the green colours are very attractive, and of course the eyes, are a highlight in your photo, as well.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Paul, there's a tinge of blue as well near the thorax. Tip of the tail not shown here also has blue.

Tom, think the surrounding light also helped to give a lighter bg

Cheers....

Thanks Cynthia. The different species of damsels have so much potential
in terms of colour diversity. Look forward to shooting them!
