I posted this in "Birds" and then experimented withit as a photo-painting. Not sure  how I feel about it, but kind of like the  abstract background.

Like this Cindy and whilst both are easy to view and on the eye, this has just that bit more.

Very dark and mysterious!  I wonder what this would look like just a touch lighter as an alternative? but I too love that abstract background. :)

A bit less contrast would be better, IMO.

Art is so subjective, but for my personal tastes, this is just about right!  It still has that air of mystery but is softer and very appealing.  Nicely done Cindy.  :)

Thanks David, Carol and Joe. I guess the second one works Ok too. I did like the stronger contrast on the one I first posted as it made the bird stand out more....Now I don't know which I'd choose for a final version. :)

Well, Cindy, I had been looking at your image on my phone. Now, I opened them up on the iPad and they both look pretty good. The first one doesn’t look as contrasty as it did on the phone. It teaches me to look at images on a bigger screen before commenting. Sorry.

Beautiful picture! I really like how the bird stands out so clearly against such a dark background and full of really interesting textures.
I really like how the dark lines draw the outlines of each shape.

See now the second version, even better! Made even more interesting and balanced in colors and light and dark.
Well done.

No apologies needed, Joe.  Several people prefer the second version anyway! Appreciate you thoughts.

P.S. on the revision-I removed the lines on the goldfinch's breast-I like that better! Art is an evolving process!
