Winter Fallow Buck

This was taken in the woodland.  The interesting point being he was the "gang" leader of a group of males.  When he got up, they followed.  6 in a long line, but difficult to show as the cover of trees wouldn't permit a clear view.

There clearly was a pecking order, as those with similar sized antlers were next in line whereas as the antler sizes "shrank" in the following bucks, their place in the rank dictated they would be placed in line with their "status".

Shot FF,.  (Part of me wanted a wider view and part is comfortable with the show provided by them).

Perfect dof to let us see the tree habitat without them intruding on the lovely buck detail - and yes, as you well know, deer species do tend to respect the larger antlers, which are usually the crown of the dominant male.  :)

Another fine portrait.

You can always add the new 180-600mm to your collection, when 800mm is too much ;)
