Mabel Orchard Orb Weaver
Leucauge argyrobapta

Not one of the big garden spiders, these little guys have a legspan of maybe a nickel to a quarter.  They hang in the shade, but when some light hits them they really pop.  I found this one deep in a ravine in S. TX.

..... and there was me thinking you had a new pet - and you had named her Mabel!  :)   A fine capture, Craig.

Excellent capture, Craig! ( I didn't know that you did insect photography as well as birds- thanks for the recent review of my eastern black swallowtail submission).

Beautiful colors and nice details. They call them orchard spiders, but I've only found them in dark spots in the woods.
