A few weeks ago I posted an image of a bobcat in my Corning NY backyard. I have always loved the detail that bobcats have in their faces. Today I am posting a highly cropped face shot of the same image. Cat was about 100 feet away and photographed with R7 and 100-500 @ 500. Cropped to 2"X 3" Processed in Photoshop and then enlarged 3 X with Topaz Gigapixel AI. I can now easily print an 8 X 12. Click on image to see details.

I loved your original image and agree that these beautiful cats have lovely markings Ed, but sadly the huge crop and work done has resulted in losing detail in the face, especially around the nose/cheek/jaw/area and a lot of the fur on the neck and body has now got a rather 'crunchy' texture.  For me its just a step too far to zoom in this much.   Maybe pulling back some might solve the problem if your original photo can take it.

+1 Ed.  Love the pose and looks, but am in sync with Carol's thoughts.

Thanks friends for the feedback. Yes, this is a huge crop I was playing with. I agree with your input that it looks kind of crunchy and losses detail that just can't be made up by processing. I appreciate your taking the time to offer suggestions.

Have to agree with above thoughts. I wonder if Topaz can do more with this with Noiseware. Or...make it into an art form of some sort-I'll bet it would look great that way.
