Today was a super photography day. While standing in our living room I thought I noticed a new shape on the far side of our neighbor’s yard. At first I thought it was a tree limb sticking up, then I thought I saw it move. Getting the binoculars (always handy) I confirmed it was a bobcat! We always keep a camera with a telephoto lens ready to go, so I went on our deck and made a few shots from about 200 feet away. Since the accommodating cat didn’t move I use the cover of our shed and crept up about 100 feet closer and cautiously poked my camera around the corner. Low and behold the bobcat was still in place. I then proceeded to shoot many, many frames of this beautiful creature. Here are the results of about 5 minutes of photography with the cat posing for me. It knew I was there, mostly hidden by the shed and seemed to know I was not a threat and tolerated me until something else behind it made it nervous. It gently sauntered away into the brush.
All images shot with Canon R7 and 100-500 @ 500 ISO 6400 and 1/1000; cropped to about 75% of original. Remember, a little mild insanity keeps us healthy
