My wife, Gail, has planted many dahlia bulbs that she keeps in our basement over the winter. This years crop turned out some beauties. While the entire flower is certainly beautiful it is sometimes fun to look closely at its structure. To my eye it is both symmetric and complicated with many colors, shadows and even mystery.
