I have a Canon 500II/4 but I can't handhold it. Going to shoot Osprey fishing in good light. Appreciate comments on the Canon RF 600 f/11 for that specific use.

I have clients who have tried the 600 f/11 and just sent it back. They preferred their 100-500 f/7.1. They said the AF was slow and frustrating.

There are various reviews on photography websites and on youtube. People have positive things to say about both the 600 f/11 and 800 f/11. I was going to buy the 800mm for maximum reach. The lens is compact, sharp and inexpensive. Then I thought about the limitations. It's not really flexible. It has a limited use. I'd rather put the money for a 800 f/11 on the RF 100-500 and a 1.4x instead. The combo is 700mm, good enough and more flexible than the 800 f/11. In your case, the 600 f/11.
