The New Brighton area used to be the go-to place in the summer holidays back in the sixties.A trip across the Mersey and then an open-top bus ride to the beach,what more could a young kid ask for.

Many kids nowadays seem to want much more from life than what sounds like the perfect day in your description, Peter. The ss softens the beach and sea nicely to give the impression that this scene is indeed from your childhood dreams.
