Most equipment freaks would know that in opposition to amateur shutters that would make on average 40 000 frames, professional ones could do 3 or 4 time more (I'm not such a freak so I'm not sure if this numbers are correct  ).
My question is: Do digital sensors have a limited life? Does any one knows what is the estimate number of frames one can expect to make with a digital sensor?
On another thread E.J. mentioned that he made 18000 frames in 7 month, this makes over 60 000 frames in 2 years
How many years do you think that such prolific photographers will have to wait until they need a sensor replacement?
Or maybe they will replace the entire camera for the new improved model before that hapens...

I've taken about 30,000 shots with a 1D and haven't noticed any deterioration in image quality. If anything its better due to some of the firmware upgrades. My guess is that the mechanical shutter would wear out long before the sensor loses capability.
