I have not posted anything "fishy" in a while so here is an U/W motif shot. I shot this adolescent queen angel in St Vincent in the eastern Caribbean last year. The juvenile has a very different coloration and slightly different shape, and as they move into "adolescence" (I guess a fish can have an adolescenece) they begin to assume adult shape and coloration but with the vertical bands on the body. Upon reaching adulthood these bands will fade. This fish was about 8" long and one of three of this approximate size swimming and feeding together. One of the prettiest fish in the Caribbean and one of my favorite subjects, though not always easy to shoot.
D-100 Nikon, Nexus D-100 housing, two Sea and Sea YS-120 strobes shot manual exposure 1/2 power, 1/125 @ f16, ISO 200, depth of 35'.

Electric colors! I like the position of the fish. I was wondering how you could tell an adolescent fish, now I know!

Wow, the UW shots are always so impressive to me! They make the land critters look so dull. As always, the technicals are impressive.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the lens. I slightly modify a Sigma 28-80 or 28-135 Macro Zoom for use UW with the D-100. Works much better than the 60 Micro with the Nikon's digital sensor crop on the lenses' angle of view. Zoom is much more versatile. Just to show the difference in adolescent and juvenile queen angels I will post a juvenile today.

The neon colors in this are too cool. Very well done.

Gorgeous colors and details on this one, Woody. That is one handsome fish. Now I can see why one of my friends likes to SCUBA anytime she has a chance. It takes real talent and skill to get an UW shot like this too.
