This morning was beautiful in Stika, Alaska and I was out early on a wildlife tour boat looking for critters. A nice group of humpback whales welcomed us to Sitka Sound and a little later, we came upon this large "raft" of sea otters. I have never seen so many of these guys in one place. The onboard naturalist said they were a group of males because males and females travel separately because the guys are kinda rough. These weren't all scarred up...so they were males. This is more of a fun photo and I edited it on my laptop, but I thought I would post it to say that I am having a wonderful time in AK. :)
Thanks for looking.

Looks like you are having fun. This one is very contrasty, probably due to editing on a laptop.

Certainly contrasty as E.J. says, but how amazing to see so many of these wonderful animals close together like this. What an experience! 8) 8) :)

I've never seen a sea otter, so I consider you very lucky! And I've never seen a group photo like this before, either. It is contrasty; I hope you can rework it when you get back to a good monitor!

Still a nice image!

Boy, with a collection of critters like this it's easy to see why you're having a good time!

Linda- Looks like the trip is going well! I've never seen that many otters packed into such a tight space.

Thank you, everyone! I am having a marvelous trip with lots of photo ops. I will have a whole parade of animals to post too. Alaska has been really good to me. I even have my entry into our bear collection here...the big black bears from Neets Bay in Tongass National Forest near Ketchikan. I never knew sea otters traveled in packs like this either till we came upon them that morning. I had always seen only individuals floating on their backs in the water.
