Hey guys,

I got a report that my images URL's are being re-directed by NSN. Can you guys help me understand the reason for re-directing my URL's to the "memberpic" directory?

For example...

This image (http://gvisions.org/nsn/2013/1D_MKIV/A32E1813.jpg) resides here (http://www.naturescapes.net/memberpics/ ... 2E1813.jpg)

Thanks folks and keep up the good work with the site!

For functionality reasons all images posted are being uploaded to our server whether they are uploaded directly, or though a link to an image elsewhere - hence the big blue button that says "upload an image". This functionally change was disclosed (and discussed) with the new site announcement and is also reflected in the updated terms of use (which were updated on Jan 4 when the new site went live.) Existing images that were linked before this change remain so. It is the only way the site can work properly with the dynamic image display we built, and it also helps to prevent spam :)

Most of the larger photo sharing sites require upload to their server (some of the smaller and "cookie cutter" sites like BPN and a few others may be the exception.)

Hi Greg,

I looked at the code and it's pretty clear that the reason the images are upload it to your server is because it needs to create a thumbnail for the image critique galleries module.

Didn't make sense for me at the begging but I understand now.

Thanks!

Yup - and not just one thumbnail - multiple ones at different sizes :)

If you don't mind me suggesting to let folks know... otherwise whoever keeps an eye to their URL's they could easily report NSN tho!

Just a thought!

Thanks!
