While I was waiting for a snail kite to return to a perch, I spotted this dragon fly on an empty seed pod. I spread out my tripod legs to get an OOF BG. There are both closed green seedpods and this obvious dried empty seedpod in the area. I don't know their name. There are also many water lilies in the area.

10D, 600IS, 2x, ISO400, EV-2/3, f11, 1/500, no flash, slight crop off bottom.

comments and reposts welcome

I love this. It has a very otherworldly feel to it. Seems like something you would see in a science fiction movie. I love it.

I couldn't agree more! I love the lighting and the background! I think it's probably the seedpod of the American Lotus. Those lilies you see, could they be lotuses(loti?), instead?

Barry,

You discovered one of my weaknesses. I'm not good on plant IDs. It probably is a lotus. At least I got the first inital correct. I 'll try to capture an image of this next time I'm there.
