My experience with HP (what I am writing this on now) is they make great computers that won't talk to any peripheral well, including their own. Epson printers, good luck! HP computer to an HP scanner, brutal horror.

So this adventure with Canon will likely be an epic fiasco and yet another black eye for Canon.

HP consumer computers have absolutely the poorest reliability in the industry - nobody uses cheaper and lower grade components and has poorer build quality. Their workstation class and servers are great though. You get what you pay for!

Back in the 90's and early 2000's I had local techies build me custom computers and I seemed to get more bang for the buck with them. Off the shelf computers got pretty good IMO in the mid 2000's so I switched to them, typically going straight to the top, so at that price point things have worked well for me with HP.

However, my HP doesn't work well with my HP flatbed scanner, nor with my Epson R 2400 printer. Always takes a bit of fiddling to get things working properly.
