Coyote - Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
EOS 1Ds, 70-200 @ 70mm, 1/400, f/11, ISO 200 I had a photography/nature experience I won't soon forget this morning. While shooting mountain scapes and wild flowers in the Moraine Park section of Rocky Mountain National Park, I spotted a Coyote in the distance. Since I was set-up for landscapes, the longest lens I had on me was the 70-200 zoom but I did have a 1.4x on. While I don't like using teleconverters on zooms, in this case I put it on in hopes of getting something and started slowly walking the quarter mile or so distance between me and the coyote leaving my tripod behind. The Coyote was making his way toward me and I could soon get rid of the 1.4x and proceeded to photograph this guy for at least a half hour. He came within just a few feet of me without a care in the world for me - he was looking for prey. After a while he laid down right in front of me. This shot was taken about halfway through in an attempt to include environment and the coyote. Hope you like it! If not, I have tons of other shots including full frame, verticals, etc, etc Posted from low-end screen laptop in case anything looks weird E.J. Peiker http://www.EJPhoto.com
