Miguel,

What an exciting experience that must have been to be able to see and photograph this lynx in the wild. He is adorable and you need a cuteness alert on the image. How many of these are left in the wild?

Lovely shot Miguel! They are indeed very rare now with a captive breeding programme to re-introduce them to the wild. You did well to catch this one. 8) :)

Thank you very much for your comments. They are about 400 Iberian Lynx left in the world,in 2 places in south Spain. They are close to extintion, more than the bengal tiger in the red list.I hope they keep
they numbers up as they are really beautiful animals.

Nice shot Miguel, you were lucky to see one in the wild.

According to this months BBC Wildlife magazine, there is a new report that suggest there is only 135 animals in the wild and of those, just 28 are breeding females.

More info on saving the lynx can be found at http://www.soslynx.org

There is also a webcast at Nat Geo on a baby lynx, but you'll need a high speed connection, that you can get to from the soslynx site above.

Great experience and thanks for sharing this with forum participants. I hope the lynx numbers will improve and pictures like this call attention to their situation. Very cute... from a technical standpoint, flash as main light source was necessary and this resulted in flashed out eyes which could be touched up. Also on my monitor looks just a little oversharpened. Thanks for contributing..
