How can I determine the number of shutter actuations on my Canon 50D?

Thanks.

Hey Don, Check out the EOSInfo utility found here...assuming you are using Windows, for Mac the 40D shutter count utility mentioned on the same site will probably work:

Cheers!

Not sure why Canon didn't include such a useful utility in their camera software package. The only reason I can think of is they may not want customers purchasing 'new' cameras that may show 200 shutter actuations (the shutter count limit some retail stores will allow for a return), etc. I don't know.

My 2 year old Canon 40D had a mirror failure this past summer. I downloaded the software mentioned above and saw the shutter actuation was over 125,000. Fortunately Canon replaced both the mirror box and shutter for free :-)
