You may have noticed that the price of 1D Mark III has reduced significantly at BHPhotovideo.
Signs of the next 1D? :-)

Or signs of a horrible economy where stuff sits on shelves - supply and demand... ;)

Canon did recently reduce the MSRP of the 1D3 to $3999 and the MSRP of the 1Ds3 to $6999.

What was B&H selling them for previously? If the rumours are to be believed, there will be a new 1D announced in a few weeks.

I'll believe it when I see it, I've seen rumors of the 70D, and the 60D doesn't exist yet. The big question after the mark 3 debacle, is who is going to be an early adopter?? :?

There were rumors on a new 5D "any day now" for more than two years before it actually arrived oh and it was called 3D and 7D ;)
Rumors in the photo gear world are almost always made up by somebody that either has nothing better to do or wants to see their thread have maximum number of posts. That is rampant in the Canon forums on DPReview.

That is about the same price I paid 8 months ago (3750).

I wonder when there is a new 1D how many people will actually buy it initially and take the chance that Canon has figured out how adequately test their cameras.
Cheers,
Doug

Frankly, I am in the market for the next 1D series. I did pass on the 1DMK3 due to the issues. However, call my stupid or not, I just can't believe that Canon would put out the replacement without it being good. Trust, faith or what ever, it would be corporate suicide to not have a good intro of the next version, so I believe it will be OK. I am in need of a new camera - not just want a new one. So, as soon as it is available to a peon like me I will take the plunge.

I have been thinking about the 5DMK2, but the faster speed of the 1D series is more to my needs. However, if I can't get (and test) a 1 series prior to my Tanzania trip in February I will get the 5DMK2 or the 50D replacement depending on what the circumstances are at the time.

..and having watched the other dpreview forum, I might add new camera rumors abound in the Nikon forums on dpreview too often as well. The only exception are those posted by poster jeff-c (so if you see one of those, pay more attention). ..dj

B&H also has an interesting item for sale. A underwater housing for a Canon 60D. Other sites are also posting info. about this underwater housing.

When Canon (and Nikon) begin offering rebates on a body, that usually is a good indicator of a new product introduction. They want to "push" out the inventory of the older model to make room for the new one. However, in this current worldwide economic recession, rebates might be used just to move bodies even if a new product is not ready to be announced.
