http://www.dpreview.com/news/0907/09073 ... nd300s.asp

Adds video to the D300, dual media slots (1 CF and 1SD slot), 7FPS without an optional grip to speed things up, virtual horizon, center button on multi-controller, otherwise similar to the D300 but with several tweaks.

And a pre production hands on review:

There's also a low entry level D3000 introduced today.

Getting 7 fps without the grip is great.

Another feature I really liked here is that it maintains AF while shooting video. I had been thinking of getting a Panasonic GH1 for video, but being able to use my Nikon glass makes the D300s a really nice option.

The problem I see with the video is that it is 24fps, so not the best for movement.

Looks like a good thread to post this. Whether it's true or not, is anyone's guess:

Interesting. It's slightly off already given Nikon's recent releases.

Pretty much as has been speculated/leaked.
Although I am not interested in video capability, it will be interesting to see how responsive the video AF will be.
Another point of interest is the dual media card slot....SD/CF....are we beginning to see the start of the complete migation to SD?

I really hope not, they're too small for cold weather and gloves, not to mention the investment I have in CF cards.

They always are. The only one that has a decent track record on this is Thom Hogan.

I wrote the Eye-Fi company recently, asking if they had plans to release a CF version or their "pro" card, noting that between Canon and Nikon only 2 (1d3, 1ds3) of the 8 (50D, 5d2, 1d3, 1ds3, d300, d700, d3, d3x) cameras that might be considered "pro" took sd cards.

While they are certainly not authoritative on the plans of Nikon and Canon, their answer indicated that the planned storage media of all planned Nikon and Canon prosumer and pro cameras was sd media, and thus they had no intention of making a CF card at this point.

That, combined with the storage and speed projections that have been laid out for SD cards, makes me think that they are the way of the future.
