I'm shopping around for a budget digi slr (ideally with Nikon-fit lenses/flash) for my employer, so had listed the Fuji as a contender.

A colleague had bought one recently so he brought it into the office today for us to play with, and it went belly up! Everything seems normal, but once the shutter is released it just shows an "err" message and won't hold on to the image.

A change of batteries is the cause, according to info since gleaned from the Fuji website. This is supposed to be a known fault with a limited number of batches (both US and UK fuji give a list of serial numbers that are affected) but his model was not supposed to be one of those.

Has anyone else experienced this fault with their S2? I guess I'm really asking if this is a fluke, or is the camera just not terribly robust?

I have had my S2 pro for 13 months now and 8000+ images later, still no problems and everything works great.
