I do not do much Bird photography, mainly due to other interests and partly due to the fact that I do not have enough lens power, but I did enjoy Thursday evening.
We always get burrowing owls at the Wichita Mountains NWR but they are always back in the restricted area that is closed to human kind so, I would always just view them from the binocs. Well, this year we have a pair at the main prairie dog town where all the visitors go. A friend of mine and I were able to set up about 30 yards from these two on a dirt road. We just sat all evening waiting for some action. The hard part is to not get distracted by the prairie dogs running all over Anyhow, D60, 300mm w/2x, 1/800 sec SS, f5.6. Cropped from horizontal. http://www.naturesphotography.net
