West Mitten - Monument Valley Tribal Park, Navajo Nation, USA

Monument Valley is one of the southwest's quintessential locations for southwestern desert landscapes. This was taken before sunrise last Thanksgiving.

Very well chosen image for the theme, a sight that many think of as synonymous to the SW. Great image! In particular I like the radiating red streaks -- one of the better images I have seen of this location, which is saying a lot as it is often photographed.

E.J.,

Great sky and the layers of color as it gets closer to the horizon are perfect.

Lovely, E.J. Not your best work, but a fine image nonetheless.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Fantastic sky and a nice silhoutte, E.J. How did you get so close to the Mitten before sunrise? The field of view seem to wide for this to be picked out with a longer lens. That is unless those clouds are really high!

First time I've seen a warm sunset sky capture of this area. Works great! Lovely graduation of colors in the sky as well.

Nothing special was done - it is taken from the visitor center at 50mm and a very small amount was cropped from the bottom.
