The last of my little Richardson Nature Center closeup series. This is the Barred Owl they care for there. She imprinted on humans when she was young and so she now is cared for by the nature center. She's absolutely gorgeous.

Nice close up Chris. Would like to see it in a Horiz. so that the feathers around the face are included. Richardson NC is a great place to shoot.

Great detail and nice exposure. I like it vertical but also wish for a little more room all the way around.

I agree with you Chris, she is beautiful. Like the others, I would like more room all around. Excellent shot.

I sort of disagree with the other suggestions and think this would be interesting with a tighter crop. Well done.

Yes Chris, she is a beauty! I love Owl faces.

Superb detail and as has already been mentioned either a little more room for head feathers, or a really tight crop would both work on this image IMHO.

I was sort of unsure on the crop for this. I purposely shot vertical to remove some distracting elements on either side (she was sitting in between some dead trees) and I wanted a real tight full frame shot. I just didn't know how tight to go, and there were barriers which I was told not to cross. I suppose I could have added on the 1.4x TC to get the "super tight" crop, or I could crop this image, as the image posted is 100% full frame, with no crop whatsoever. Its sharp enough I couild easily crop quite tightly with no problem....hmm...
Any suggestions on that tighter crop?

This is just one suggestion Chris, but it is really a matter of personal taste - I happen to like tight crops when the face is as dramatic as this!
