An animal which I never heard of until I got to Monte Verde Lodge in Costa Rica

Nice shot Richard! I think this is a Red Rumped Agouti and one of the nicer looking rodent species. What's more, they form monogamous pairs - which I think is rather sweet! :)

Its nice to see unfamiliar species posted here, especially such a good image. Thanks for posting in wildlife. 8) :)

Nice animal, indeed.

I like the low angle on this one. The detail is great.

Richard, you and I may have been in Monteverde at the same time. Nice shot of this agouti.

Very nice image of this oddball animal. I especially like the deep, rich browns. I have never seen one of these before either.

The low perspective and the wonderful detail in the Agouti is simply fantastic!

Neat animal in a neat pose, Richard, and I like the low angle you took this from.

Carol, I believe you are right in your identification here. Agouti's are very cool animals. I had the pleasure to see them in Costa Rica and also in Brazil. This is an absolutely gorgeous shot Richard. The colors and the sharpness are outstanding
