Here is a larger image of the fisher whose eyes I posted yesterday. Thanks for looking!
The females are smaller than the males who can get up to about 15 lbs. The largest I have had come in was 10 lbs and I know that because he got caught in my racoon live-trap. I weighed him before letting him go. They usually look to be about the size of a cat - with shorter legs. They are considered a "fur-bearing" animal which means that they are trapped and sold for their fur. They are very opportunistic and resourceful. A lot of people don't like them because they catch and eat anything they can get including domestic cats. Many people think of them as vicious too but I have seen red foxes and racoons chase them. I had one that came every winter for five years. They are members of the weasel family and are the only animal that can hunts porcupines for food. They bound as other members of the family do and walk on their whole foot (plantigrade) unlike canines and felines who walk just on their toes.
