Lost Creek Falls is found in northern Wisconsin west of Bayfield. This image was taken the evening before kayaking in the Apostle Islands.

Great shot, Ken...I can really "feel" this image. There appears to be a slight blue/cyan color cast to the water. Also the highlights in the sky are a bit distracting.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

HERE is the original version. I burned a lot on the ULC and revomed a bit of the blue...

Apart from the blue/purple cast this looks great! The composition is very effective.

Ken, The image itself to me seems to have a great illusion of tilting to the left? Its very early right now, but i think im seeing this correctly  I do like it though! Especially the water fall itself, has a nice blur to it!

Ken,

This looks much better after burning in the upper left corner. It looks like in removing the blue, the colors shifted to purple. Nice waterfall shot!

For some reason I don't see the second version. Nice image and I also see a slight color cast in the posted image.

Looks like this took on the clasic Velvia long exposure purple shift that happens when it encounters reciprocity failure. It's a beautiful scene though - correcting the purple shift would boost it a lot in my opinion.

Lovely shot, Ken. I too think it's a bit too purple but I really like it anyway.

Excellent composition from an obviously beautiful location -- as others have mentioned with less of a blue cast this good image would be greatly enhanced.

Ken - A beautiful shot! The detail of the transparency shows even in web size. I think the composition is very nice. I might prefer a little more foreground in the lower right, to lead into the falls. But overall I really like the shot.

EJ - I doubt this is a color shift due to the long exposure. Velvia 100F should work just fine with exposures of one minute or longer, and without reciprocity failure -- at least according to Fuji's spec sheet for the film. OTOH, Velvia 50 has reciprocity failure kick in at around 4 seconds, and IMX shifts distinctly to green (not purple) with long exposures. I have seen a perceptible color shift from Velvia 50 only with very long exposures, at least 5 to 10 minutes. But I've heard others see it after only 30 seconds, so maybe I'm just not as perceptive :).

In any case, when I saw this picture, I immediately wondered if this was Velvia 100F, after so many folks said it scans slightly magenta. And it turns out it was 100F. Is that the problem? I seriously doubt the original is as magenta in the water as it looks on my screen. :?
