Any suggestions on the best format (jpg, tiff, psd) for having slides made from digital files. I've heard that slides.com has good service and quality but don't think their site is clear on what the best method is.... only that they can work from just about anything.

Tiff or PSD, if they can work from anything. Equal quality. Tiff is the safest bet if you are saving the file for future use and there is a chance you are going to take it somewhere else. That being said you can always convert back and forth without any loss of quality. I would not use JPEG as that is not a lossless format.

I am interested in knowing how they turn out!

Jim, Midwest Photo in Omaha is a long established, high-quality, reasonably-priced and good service operation: http://www.mwphoto.com They recommend TIFF format in RGB mode and provide specifics.

Any lossless format the service will accept. Usually that will be TIFF. never do JPEG if you don't have to.

Juli, I couldn’t find anything about digital transparencies are their website – do you know if they will output larger than 35mm? Thanks!

Ron---1,000 apologies! The correct URL is http://www.mwphoto.com

They request that computer slide files be sent as RGB TIFFS but they can and do work with other file formats. They do work with large format prints but I cannot answer about duplication of large format transparencies.

E-mail me for further info, if you wish. I have all their brochures.

I have used slides.com with great sucess in the past. My expectations on the quality of the slides where pretty low, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised when the slides arrived. I have used them for show submissions with sucess.

The one drawback to slides.com was that their accounting was a REAL mess. They did not bill me for over 6 months.
