Looks like a gorgeous place. I personally would prefer the picture with warmer light and not showing so much of the rocks on the left side of frame.

I agree with Todds comment about the space on the left. Because the perspective of the image points to the upper left, ones eye is drawn there. Was there a way you could have moved to your left and shot the falls more head on?

Nice shot, Paul. I agree that this may look realy cool with better lighting...a boost of contrast in this shot may help too.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Better light like others have said. Overcast light would be ideal. Looks to have a lot of potential.

Great scene Paul. Wish you could have put some more work in Photoshop with this one. A larger image, a bit more contrast and warmth, some USM and this is a winner in my book!

Paul,

There is a lot of potential in this shot. It is quite a hike to get to this waterfall so there isn't much you can do about the light unless you want to hike out in the dark. I would work with what you have to boost the flat colors (some of which is probably due to the film) and a crop from the top and left will reduce the predominance of the rock and give a better balanced shot.

Yeah, it really is quite a hike. I suppose one could hike up the part of the trail that doesn't run past Vernal Falls in the dark, though it's long and pretty steep; I definitely wouldn't want to go up the Vernal side before daylight; it's very steep, damp and narrow.

There are a number of points further down the trail where the above shot was taken that provide more of a 3/4 perspective on Nevada Falls which might lead to a somewhat more pleasing composition.
