Welcome to NSN. This is a very nice first post. I like the composition a lot with the fox having room to move into the frame and the lifted foot implying motion. My only nit would be the shading on the side of the face as the fox had obviously moved its head into the shadows. Nice to see this view in the wild-I usually see the other end as they take off away from me. Thank you for posting in wildlife and I look forward to seeing more of your images here.

Welcome to NSN Jody. Nice fox image and Cheryl pretty much covered the critique. I really enjoy seeing animal pictures which also feature snow.. Glad to have you on board, looking forward to more..

Excellent first post! I really enjoyed seeing this little fox just walking along. Reminds me of stories my father used to tell me about foxes so long ago...

By the way, the fox being a bit dark is quite easy to fix up in Photoshop. :)
Image
Here's one way, along the lines of what I did:

1. Duplicate the image as a second layer.
2. Hide the top layer and select the lower layer.
3. Run the Shadows/Highlights tool (in Photoshop CS) to lighten the fox.
4. Select the top layer and make it visible.
5. Erase through the top layer over the fox to expose the lighter version.
6. Select the lower layer and perform final color balancing, contrast, etc.
7. Layer-Merge Down.
8. Add a tiny 1 pixel eye catchlight.

There are many other ways, I'm sure.

Welcome to NSN! Its alsways great to see another person posting.

I got the dreaded box with red x on your post, but Noel's repost is showing up.

Very nice shot- I like the snow and the grass. The fox has a very relaxed look and a nice sensation of motion.

Welcome to NSN and a very good first post. Perhaps just a bit of flash would have lifted some of the shadows but still a very good image.

welcome Jody and nice first post. I really like the coming at you perspective you captured. with the PS correction to bring in more shadow detail, an excellent shot.
