West Indian Manatee.
From the STL in Crystal River, FL. Image taken while snorkeling with a Nikon Coolpix camera in a housing.
I feel privileged to have witnessed this behavior and my experience with the manatees will be with me forever.
This was my first attempt at underwater photography, and the help I received during this workshop was great.
Comments welcome.
Rich.

Wonderful behaviour shot Rich. This photo shows very well how having her nipple behind her armpit like this, the mother manatee is still able to rest on the bottom while her little one nurses.

You took to the water without a problem-usually the first one in and the last one out!

Rich, this is a super image and one that will sell for sure. You took to this like a duck in water, always the first in and last out. I think you have gills  It was a blast and I have never seen anyone with more of a smile :D.

It is truly an incredible experiance, and one I greatly look forward to each year. Thanks for sharing in the memories.

Best,

Chas

Rich,

The clarity is amazing on this shot. Glad you got to see this behavior and document it. I'm still thinking about how happy your face is when you get out of the water. I completely see scuba in your future....and a dive buddy right here if you ever want one.

It was a great pleasure to meet you.

Thanks for the feedback Wayne. I used a Coolpix 5400, with a Tetra housing, both of which I rented.
Rich.

An incredible image: the behavior, the colors, the sharpness all UW. Unbellievable to me.
