I like it Robert.

It's an unusual comp, but the low angle makes it work. Also the fact that the deer is eating suggests it is comfortable with your presence which has a calming effect on the whole shot.

Did that just make sense ????

Hey Rob, I am undecided as to the comp, a bit truncated for my taste. I think more or less would be beneficial.

Best,

I have to agree with Chas here. Maybe a tight crop on the head would work.

I prefer the original one Robert, but if you've got to crop it, perhaps come in from the right to make a vertical of its head and front legs to avoid dismembered limbs :)

I like this picture. I once posted a picture in avian in another world that was a reddish egret feeding, chopped right across midbody, much like this with the beak in the water and just the legs. The crowd didnt think much of it.. The reason I enjoy pictures like this is because not only is it different but it makes us stop and think for a second, slows down the viewer, just to figure it out... Thanks for posting.

Love the original Robert - the image and the crop. Don't change a thing!! Excellent and unique. Your suggested crop leaves the two hind legs dangling in space!!

As your original thought was the first image as posted - go with it, its a winner!! Well done!! 8) 8) 8) :) :)
