Does anyone have any experience using these vs using pipe insulation. I have a new G1325 on order and was looking for some extra padding to ease the stress on an almost 60-yr old shoulder. Thanks.

I use them on all my tripods. they are basically pipe insulation with a woven cover.

The woven cover is a plus, they don't shred. The other option which I use on an old tiltall is jsut pipe insulation wrapped in tape.

I use pipe insulation wrapped in camo duct tape from Walmart. Works great and I have not had any problems with the tape becoming "sticky" to the touch yet either (something I thought might happen in hot conditions).
