Arctic Skipper

Here's an Arctic Skipper (Carterocephalus palaemon) from Northern North Dakota. These guys are small, about thumbnail size. If someone wasn't specifically looking for these, they'd be easily overlooked.

Fine picture of a super butterfly. The field guides say these look like a miniature fritillary, and they sure do!
