Saturnia pyri -- Great Peacock Moth

This is the biggest European moth. This pair was found on a tree in Extremadura (Spain) at the dam at La Tajadilla.

Cool sot - critical focus is on the tree trunk though rather than the moths.

I agree with EJ, in that it seems that the focus is a tad behind the moths.
Possibly a touch of sharpening with the selective sharpening tool on the two moths in PS could bring it back.
Still, this is excellent! 8)
I think that the yellow/gold coloring on the tree trunk really adds to the overall look to this shot.
Very nice!!

Actually it is not, but I agree that the sharpening had more effect on the trunk - especially on this small size. I'll see if I can sharpen the moths separately. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I like it especially the position of the moths and the lichen and bark

Excellent setting and pairing of these moths. USM may help with the sharpness issues...

Awesome. The slightly different body angles looks great.

Good find. The lichens make for an interesting background too.

fine shot ! weird that you had to go all the way to Spain to capture them! :wink: ; would try to sharpen them differently;

Nice of them to pose in such a pleasing-to-the-eye composition!
