Common Green Darner

Birds have been a bit scarce the last few weeks, so these guys and thier cousins have presented a challenge.

These were taken at Hornsby Bend, near Austin, last Saturday.

10D, 100-400IS, 550EX + Flash Extender @ -1 2/3, ISO 400 -1/3, Gitzo, BH1.

Nice colors and detail Jim. I like the slight diagonal that the darners are on but I do wish the wing were not cut off the top one.

Nice and sharp, with good colors in the darners and their perch. Maybe a little too much shine on the lower one's wings, but this is still really nice!

Two for the price of one :) . Nice crisp image with a good diagonal and symmetric view of the subjects.

great shot, though, it would have benefitted with a polarizer. The problem with comments like this is that no one knows what the circumstnaces were and a polarizer might not have been possible at the time, if indeed one was available.

Not easy to get one in focus let alone two. A bit too much light on the wings of the back dragon but a nice image none the less.

The wings do seem a bit bright but not enough to really bother me at all.
Good comp, and surely good detail which makes it appealing to me!! :)

The wings may be a little shiny but I like this - very interesting image.
