The peeling is a natural process for these trees.  The green surface exposed to the sun, first darkens, then turns reddish brown like the bark that is presently peeling off.

Great job on the focus stack - nice and sharp bark throughout, with a soft background.  I like the diagonal comp and the soft light.  The bg is really clean, but the bark looks. . . Noisy? Oversharpened?  Or does it really have that speckled look?  I’ve never seen Madrone.

The speckling is natural, though a bit exaggerated by the post-processing.

Thank you for the kind words,

Fine abstract, nice color combination of the green bark with the other hues.

This is a beautifully designed shot- really pleasing colors and shapes- could easily be an abstract. Love it!
What an interesting tree! Thanks for sharing!

You have to click on this one to really see the full beauty! Great abstract study of colours and shapes with the peeling bark. Beautifully done!

Hi

A very interesting image that I have enjoyed - I know nothing about stacking, so I wont stick me head into that minefield lol

All the best
