This is almost how I wanted the image to look. I wish now the tree on the LHS not cut into half though. But in another frame which includes this tree bring the uninteresting sky in. Taken with EOS500N/28-105/Elitechrome/Bogen190
full frame/levels/USM in PS. This is heavily compressed to be under 100KB.

Looks like a great shot but is very soft - shots like this are hard to get down to 120KB.

Yes. :x USM has been my problem recently. In this case SLIDE look TACK SHARP under Zeiss 50mm. When I convert the tiff to jpeg the leaves look unsharp. Or may be it is my PS(P) skill!
heres another take - a bit heavy dose of USM (am I afread of USM or what?! :? )

I like the sharper one indeed. Nice combination of textures.

I like what you've got going in this one. The tree pattern and the soft curve of the ground is pleasing. It feels a bit "squeezed in" to me. I wish I could see a little more. I seem to also have my ups and downs with USM lately. Sometimes it's the ultimate tool and other times I can't seem to get it right.

I really like the composition here, and the repost is much better! I also struggle with USM a lot and sometimes over do it, and sometimes don't do enough.
