Seems I'm a bit late for Mono Lake week... I shot this last weekend on the same evening Neil took the photo he posted here earlier.

This is very nice, I like the composition a lot. But I got one thing maybe with the horizon not dead center would a make a different, just an idea. However excellent image!

This is nice, but the locaton has wonderful color when the light is right.. This seems to have been shot after the prime light time, or it needs some Photoshop work to bring it out. Perhaps levels or saturation might help.
I have been there many times and after the sun sets, or gets blocked, it is over lightwise for scenes like this. Otherwise, the location is fantastic. IO hate doing this and don't often. To me, this is a bland lighting shot at a fantastic location.

Well, the horizon isn't quite dead center, but you could lose a bit of sky and improve it overall IMHO. Other than that, great composition!

with the foreground rocks doing a nice job of framing the image i think centering the BG rocks works well. Never having been to this location I can't commment about the quality of the light there but this light while not spectacular is nice and subdued and looks ok IMO.

I like it as is. The tufa on the left dictates the composition and I think it works just fine. We always seem to like the dramatic skies at Mono Lake but this is very realistic lighting and the result is understated elegance. Well crafted.

Thanks for the comments!

I know what you mean wrt the colors. I shot this well after sunset, so the 'magic' light was gone. However, I like it as is, and at times feel the too orange skies get a bit over the top. Regarding the placement of the horizon, I struggled between not having it too centered but on the other hand I wanted some room above the rock on the left as to still have a spacious feeling there. Maybe I should have trimmed off some more.

EJ, I'm sorry the page didn't load for you. I use Comcast as ISP and at times they have very long response times from their webhosting servers.

Thanks you all, I really appreciate the comments.
