Off skyline HWY, San Mateo, CA
Canon 10D, EF28-135IS, ISO 200, f/8, {30s, 8s, 2s} combo exposure

Took the liberty to recycle a shot previously posted at another site.
I came to think of this again when I saw Mahesh's photo with six exposures.
This one 'only' used three. I have also cropped the sky a bit based on comments from last time this was posted.

As always, please hammer on!

Anders,

WOW, get it on the wall. The colors, the layers, the fog. Well you get the idea :D :D

Nice job. What parts from each exposure did you use? I tried to merge 2-4x5 exposures into one but the outline of the trees didn't match. I wanted the fog from the darker exposure and the trees from a lighter one. I didn't know what to do since I couldn't exactly line up the line of trees.

Awesome shot, Anders! Love the color and the fog!
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

Nice shot. Though I think I can see the edges where you merged the three shots.

Thanks for all the comments. They are very much appreciated as always!

Dan,

The shortest exposure is for the sky. The other two are for the fog and the mountains. I wanted to get just enough separation in the mountains to get some pattern there while keeping them mainly dark.

You definitely want the shots to match perfectly to do the combination. It is a lot easier with digital since less things change between shots. With scanned slides I usually had to rotate first and then move slightly (the arrow keys are great here) to get them to overlap. Trees can be almost impossible to match it there is enough wind to move the branches.
