The as-shot bg was a bright solid blue. I worked with that bg rather than replace it to see what the possibilities were.

Started out with Lucis Art Filter to give the bg some texture, used several Flaming Pear filters to change the color (blended these layers), used Artmaster Pro & Painter to finish it up.

Alternate with branch removed

This was somthing I pondered about when making the image, it's good to hear it from someone else.

Most impressive!!!!

Only thing I would change, and I know it's a lot of work, it's to get the bransh away from behind the GBH and leave him in the clear,

I'm getting extra picky here, your work is so fantastic, one expects alot from you, you're in trouble :P 8)

This is my favorite bg of yours!!!!!!!

I would clone out the branch too, hoping the heron won't fall off! I often get branches but never any herons.
Great work as usual, Mike,

After seeing your results, I had to give it a try

I used it here to give that bg texture in the radial pattern shown, and nothing else would give that result 8)

Oh well, another addiction

Beautiful once again Mike!! and the removal of that centre branch is a great improvement! The silvery greys are superb against that warm and vibrant BG. :) 8) :D

Repost is definitely my favourite - well worth the effort. The heron now looks truly statuesque.

I especially love the radiating effect in the BG.
