A rather dreary day in Portland.  Thought I'd give these crazy Rockhoppers a try!

Wow, Diana, you have out done yourself. These rocking penguins are so animated. They are just superb. Please tell us a little about how you created this masterpiece.

Thanks so much Ron! I'm not a very sophisticated Photoshop user so I don't always know the correct terminology. First I processed the image to be the best it could be as a straight nature image. It had reeds in the background that I felt were too busy so I thought it might work as a creative image. I used the Expressionism Topaz Studio filter at a bit of a reduced opacity. I really liked the Rockhoppers but not the background. So I created a completely black layer and then with a layer mask allowed only the Rockhoppers to show through. That's it.

I'm usually not attracted much to post processing animated types of images but this is an exception. On top of the layering that you mentioned, the additional vignetting is a perfect addition to bring your eye directly to the animated expressions of the Rockhoppers. Really a terrific image that is the perfect use of post processing technique.

Dearest Diana, in addition to having captured a truly original shot, you have done an incredible work!
Great work!

Brilliant work, Diana! You have managed to turn these little clown rockhoppers into a positively demonic trio!

I think you have plenty of photoshop skills from the looks of this!! Wonderful amusing creation-such expression! Someone should create a musical album just so they can use this picture (with your permission, of course!) Soooo creative. :)
