Black-winged Stilt Himantopus himantopus

This is my first shot of BWS this season.
It was captured early this week at a nature reserve here in Hong Kong ... :roll:

EOS-1D Mk II, EF500/4L IS + EF1.4x
Evaluative +2/3, ISO 200

Fantastic, as always, KK. I love the extreme stretch of the legs and you nailed a tough exposure. Since you are in a teaching position here on NSN, and highly respected, it would be useful if you include the resulting f stop and shutter speed from your listed settings.

Here's the additional shooting data you asked ...
ISO 200, 1/1250s and f/5.6

I have hard time determining that what you see is sharpening halo! :wink:
Strictly speaking it's more a result of jaggies due to anti-aliasing filter used in image sensor. More visible when the line in question is diagonal ...
