Another (abundant) species from my Gambiatrip, april 2005 , a female village weaverbird (Ploceus cucullatus), feeding on the flowers of a bougainvillea; taken in the gardens of the Senegambia hotel;
Canon 10D, 100-400 mm + 1.4 TC, natural light

What a fantastic perch.

I'm using an uncalibratedf monitor here, so I'm not 100% sure, but maybe fill flash or s/h would help the bird to pop a little ?

I'm on the fence about the background here. The flower bracts are beautiful, but I suppose I'm just partial to cleaner backgrounds. I think a kiss of fill flash here would be nice in some of the shadows in addition to giving a catchlight. Nice work though!
