Brown Pelican colony- Anacapa Island

Definitely an environmental shot. The brown pelicans have made a wonderful comeback and both the autographed rocks at the arch on the end of Anacapa and the silhouettes of the pelicans make that point.
Someone might want to put this in landscape, but I think it shows the avian environment well. The isolation of the Channel islands makes their claim as the Galapagos of the Northern Hemisphere have some credibility. That plus the diverse subspecies on the islands. There has probably a lot of human intervention, but so has there been in the Galapagos. I wish there had been a better sky, but this is what we had at the time and this was a parting shot as all the passengers had returned from diving and kayaking and the crew said, time to go. A few birds in the air would have made this better, but I had no control on our position, that was the captains job.

A nice shot, Steve!
I'm happy to have this one in the Forum. The pano does give us the big picture feel to it too.
Light could have been better as you pointed out ...
