A Ringed Teal (Callonetta leucophrys), captive , taken in a local aviary, I visited with my wife and kids last sunday ; the midday light was extremely harsh and I'm not so fond off the watercolor neither;

A beautiful duck and flash surely saved the day here. A lower shooting angle, though maybe not possible, would be preferable. It would be more intimate and also would help with the water. You did well with the circumstances.

The fill works wonder here for the rather harsh light ...
Despite the high shooting angle I like it, Herman!

Herman,

Very nice shot. The fill flash did a great job with the lighting.

I'm with the others on the angle.....but what a beautiful duck. You did a good job given the circumstances.

I think you pretty much nailed your critique, Herman.
I like the detail / sharpness on the bird but wish for a lower angle.
